Forum Issues and Administration • Re: A Simple Bogleheads Retirement Using Variable Percentage Withdrawals (VPW Forward Test)

Hi longinvest,

Firstly, Thanks! for all the time you've spent on this project. Very impressive. We're a few years away from retirement but leaning towards VPW.

Niwashikun, each of the forward test entries (except the first) contains a link to the previous entry. This allows for easily reading the entries from latest to earliest.

Here's a trick to read the entries from earliest to lastest: starting with the last entry (currently it's this one) click on the "previous entry" link, when the previous entry is displayed immediately click on its "previous entry" link, repeat until reaching the first entry. Read the first entry. When done reading it, click on the web browser's "back" button to go back to the second entry and read it. Repeat until reaching to the last entry and reading it.
Yes, I had thought of this "analog" solution, as well as a few others, but since I won't be reading the thread in one sitting, am on a shared computer and will likely be reading thru it on multiple devices, I was really hoping for a Search Form solution. Thanks for the attempt though!

Now I understand what you mean. Search this topic for "previous entry" - which is all of your posts containing that phrase. Search found 63 matches: "previous entry"

Next, scroll to the bottom of the page and look for a "down arrow" drop box.

Display: All results
Sort by: Post time
Direction: Ascending

I tried to post a direct link, but it didn't sort in ascending order. You'll need to do the sort yourself.
LadyGeek to the rescue! In this case this seems to work, as only a few posts use those words individually or quote a phrasal usage. Definitely doable though (compared with my "Forward test as of" attempt). Should I take the absence of a mention of an exact phrase search (from both you and longinvest) to mean it's simply not possible? That would be a shame. I tried an Advanced Search using Keyword "previous entry" and Author "longinvest" but, since it wasn't limited to this thread, it still turned up way too many posts. Is there a way to limit the search to a particular thread?
