The software update changed how New posts works. The phpBB support community is not happy and considers it a bug that was introduced in this version.
There was a change of how the time of your last visit was determined which results in a vastly shorter list of new posts. The length of the list may also change based on this determination. (The forum software tracks several different times - last visit and session time.)
In the mean time, you can use Active topics. It's the same as New Posts, but without a limit on displayed activity.
